McVoy

Thomas Holt, Jr.

Thomas, Jr. was born in Virginia in 1728. He would marry Ann Arrington (date unknown) and as with so many secod or third-born sons, he inherited nothing of consequence from his father. He and at least one of his brothers would move to Halifax County, North Carolina, presumably to gain land that he couldn't acquire in Virginia or start a new venture.

Thomas Holt

The second son of William Holt was born in 1700 and was raised in Surry County, Virigina, the same as his ancestors before him. By now, he is the great-grandson of the first Randall Holt who came to Jamestown from Englad. Thomas would marry Ann Newsom. I am not sure how many children they would have, but at least two sons: Charles and Thomas We are descended from Thomas, the second son.

William Holt

William was born in Surry County Virginia sometime around 1670. He would marry Elizabeth Seward. They would have three sons: Charles, Thomas and William. We are descended from the second son, Thomas.

Randall Holt, Jr.

Randal Holt, the second, was as fortunate in marriage as his father. he married Elizabeth (Hansford) Wilson, daughter of John Hansford and widow of Christopher Wilson. Her first marriage must have been short indeed as Elizabeth was listed as 16 years old and unmarried in 1661, then a receipt from her guardian states she was newly married to Randall Holt by October, 1663. Her father was one of the magistrates of York County and had a large estate. Randall and Elizabeth would have six children (three sons and three daughters): John, William, Thomas, Jane Lucy, Elizabeth. We are decended from the second son, William.

Randall Holt

Randall Holt is the first ancestor who settled in the "New World", arriving in Jameston, Virginia in 1621. Only 13 or 14 years old, he sailed from England as an indentured servant to a Dr. John Pott, a physician general to the colony. It has been a matter of speculation as to whether young Randall was related to Dr. Pott, but that relationship has never been documented.
